Irish Branch of Pierces
In 1737, with his wife and three children he (Edward) sailed for America - two of the children died on the passage over - and he landed in Philadelphia. He purchased a farm in Delaware County, Pa., and finally settled in Paoli, Chester County, Pa., where he died. His descendants now reside in Pa.

Edward Pearce is considered the primary builder and architect of St. Peter's Church in the Great Valley, Malvern, PA from 1744 to 1750. This church, with many modifications, is still in use today.

In his will, Edward states that he owns land in "Charlestown in Maryland". This would be in Cecil County, which is adjacent to Chester Co. PA.

The Pennsylvania Gazette TO BE SOLD, A PLANTATION in Willistown, 23 Miles from Philadelphia, joining the Warren, 153 Acres, Pepper Corn Land, by EDWARD PEARCE, living on the Premises, of whom the Particulars may be known.

The Pennsylvania Gazette To be SOLD by PUBLIC VENDUE, on the 12th day of this instant June, A VALUABLE plantation or tract of land, situated in Willistown township, Chester county, containing 153 acres of land, 100 thereof cleared, with about 10 or 12 acres of meadow, and more may be made, with two good never failing springs; there are on the premises a good log house, a good log barn, and stables, with sundry out buildings, two good bearing orchards of excellent fruit; the said plantation being very convenient to lime, within one mile and half of several lime kilns, which renders it of value; the said plantation being 23 miles from Philadelphia, within half a mile of the sign of Admiral Warren. The sale to begin at 2 oon the said day; where due attendance will be given, by FRANCIS PERCE, GEORGE PERCE, and DANIEL CORNOGG, Executors.

Edward Pearce, born 6 Aug 1701, Ulster, Enniskillen, Ireland, died 6 Mar 1777, Willistown Twp., PA. He and his wife were interred at St. David's church in one grave. Edward Pearce was by trade both a mason and carpenter. In 1744 he built St. Peter's church, in the Great Valley. On April 15, 1745, he was chosen its first senior warden.
